The Grand Canyon

MMXII February 10, 2023:  Angelcraft Planet UTC+14: The Grand Canyon:  For more than tens of thousands of years perhaps millions humans  and animals have known the Grand Canyon.  Abandoning the idea of human evolution we can now hypothesize humans existing much earlier than is currently thought.  Humans are actual evidence that existed in the past and still exist today.  Also the same animals that existed in the past also exist today.

The Grand Canyon exists in the United States of America where it was underwritten as a protected area in 1893 first as a reserve and later as a national monument.   It is also a World Heritage site.  It wasn’t until February 26, 1919, that the Grand Canyon became a national park.

The Grand Canyon is bigger than the state of Rhode Island. The Grand Canyon is a mile deep, 277 miles long and 18 miles wide and measures  1,904 square miles.   With wide vistas and a view of the Colorado River to the west, Hopi Point off of Hermit Road is one of the most popular viewpoints for watching the sunset and sunrise because of its wide vistas.

Unlike previously believed the Grand Canyon itself can [not] influence the weather.  If something bad happens we can’t blame the Grand Canyon.  The secret to living on our planet is not tampering with the weather or conspiring against people like the human species is known to do.

The Grand Canyon has an elevation which reaches as high as 10,000 feet and standing at its peaks a person can experience what it feels like to be above low clouds.

There are many caves  in the Grand Canyon which has been a home to humans and animals for hundreds of thousands if not millions of years or longer.

Tucked within the Grand Canyon are an estimated 335 caves which have been discovered and many more still waiting to be discovered.

The Grand Canyon is one of the most visited national parks in the United States with up to a million or more people visiting the Grand Canyon every year.  The Grand Canyon is the second most popular national park following just behind the Great Smoky Mountains of North Carolina and Tennessee.

The Grand Canyon is a work in progress which has taken perhaps hundreds of millions years, if not more,  of geological and atmospheric process in order to manifest like it does today.   A massive river once flowed through the Grand Canyon. Today we know it as the Colorado river.  The Grand Canyon is one of the most studied landscapes in the world with extensive fossil records none of which prove dinosaurs existed, mostly normal fossils.    There exists a dinosaur conspiracy still so until it is finally accepted that dinosaurs are an invention of our recent past, they will still be presented to the public in their conspiracy state.   The oldest human artifacts found in the Grand Canyon are dated to 12,000 years old to the Paleo-Indian period.  This information is pretty harmless.

The most common animal in the park is the rock squirrel which is known to bite.  Wild animals no matter how friendly they look can be dangerous.  Even a wild kitten is not the same as a domesticated kitten.  The bighorn sheep is also a very popular animal in Grand Canyon.

Of the 90 mammal species found along the Colorado River corridor, 18 are rodents and 22 are bats.  They are technically scavengers and together with the insect world and other scavengers, help to keep things tidy.

The Grand Canyon contains different kinds of ecosystems. Its unique biological diversity can be attributed to its longitudinal and latitudinal position on our planet, its water flow and the soil nutrients and food available in its confines which can sustain plant and animal life.  Along the Colorado River and its perennial tributaries,  coyote willow, arrow-weed, seep-willow, western honey mesquite, cat-claw acacia, and exotic tamarisk (salt-cedar) are the predominant species. Hanging gardens, seeps and springs often contain rare plants such as the white-flowering western redbud, stream orchid, and Flaveria mcdougallii.   Endangered fish in the river include the humpback chub and the razorback sucker. The decline of fish has due to with water levels.  The more the volume of water the more life which can be sustained.

The  Colorado river which runs through Grand Canyon has various dams which work to control the water  which flows through it.  A dam alters how any river manifests life naturally as an ecosystem and creates a new ecosystem.  The following dams and reservoirs are located in areas which feed the Colorado.  The Flaming Gorge Dam, Utah; the Navajo Dam, N. Mex.; the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell, Ariz., and Utah; the Blue Mesa Dam, Colo.; the Hoover Dam and Lake Mead and Davis Dam and Lake Mohave, Nev.; and the Parker Dam and Havasu Lake and Imperial Dam, Ariz., These are all a part of the Colorado River. This is a partial list.

The three most common amphibians along the banks of the Colorado River are the canyon tree frog, red-spotted toad, and Woodhouse’s Rocky Mountain toad. Leopard frogs are also seen in the Colorado River corridor-  There are crustaceans and zooplankton organisms found along the river.  Various bird species regularly nest along the river, while others use the river as a migration corridor or as a wintering habitat. The bald eagle is one species that uses the river corridor as a winter habitat.  Life is abundant in the Grand Canton but sparse compared to a tropical rain forest.

Visiting the North Rim and South Rim of the Grand Canyon in the same day may be harder than you think.  Grand Canyon Village on the South Rim and the lodge on the North Rim are only about 10 miles apart flying in a straight line-  However, on land they are separated by 215 miles of winding roads.

The Bright Angel is the Grand Canyon’s premier hiking trail. Its endless switchbacks descend in the canyon, giving hikers epic views that are framed by massive cliffs which will forever be with us.
